Tenerife & Gran Canaria Rides

In the morning: transfer to the motorbike rental company (300m from the hotel). 

Tenerife is the largest island of the Canary Islands archipelago. Like the other six, it offers far more than beaches and year-round mild temperatures. The Teide volcano dominating the island’s center is Spain’s highest peak at 3,718m! 

Although you can reach it by cable car, we’ll meet it by road. 

And what roads: perfectly maintained ribbons of asphalt winding through Teide National Park in a lunar landscape. With breathtaking views at every turn (and there are many). 

Among the geological wonders: the Roques de Garcia, formed by molten lava. A palette of ochres, blacks, browns, reds and yellows. A hint of the American West...

Overnight in Playa de Las Américas (or nearby).

Ride to Santa Cruz via lovely ridge roads. Ferry crossing (approx. 1h20) to Agaete on the west coast of Gran Canaria. 

Gran Canaria, in the center of the archipelago, is made of mountains and canyons. The coastal road in Tamadaba Natural Park offers breathtaking views! 

The Roque Nublo, an isolated volcanic rock towering above an 80m cliff, was a place of worship for the aboriginal inhabitants.

At 2,000m, the Pico de la Nieves viewpoint is Gran Canaria’s highest point. The view is sublime, with a 360° panorama reaching as far as Tenerife’s Teide! 

Artenara, with its cave houses, and Teror, with its colorful facades and typical balconies, are two wonderful villages. Stunning viewpoints follow one another until arrival in Cruz de Tejeda, an adorable village perched at 1,000m.

Set off to explore Gran Canaria... 

Every rider knows it: the scenery and riding pleasure feel brand new when you reverse direction! 

Head for Veneguera, a hidden paradise on Gran Canaria. After the famous Azulejos — multicolored rock formations reminiscent of the “Artist’s Palette” in Death Valley — strolling through this small village is a real delight, with its stone houses and traditional 18th-century balconies.

To the south, Pilancones Natural Park offers a succession of ravined plateaus, with superb views all along the roads, especially near the Degollada de Las Yeguas. 

The winding route will dazzle you at every lean angle: pure riding pleasure!

Overnight in Cruz de Tejeda (or Tejeda).

Last day on the island of Gran Canaria.

The south coast is home to the seaside resort of Maspalomas and especially its famous Maspalomas dunes, a protected stretch of sand extending 7 km along the Atlantic. The Sahara is not so far away “as the crow flies”! This small ecosystem is watched over by the 60m-high lighthouse, open to visitors.

Further west, continue to the charming village of Puerto de Mogan, known for its marina and especially its “Little Venice” district.

Around the harbor and canals, the little streets are full of charm, with white houses highlighted in red, orange, blue or green. A perfect place for an evening stroll once the crowds have left.

Overnight in Mogan (or nearby).

Return to the port of Agaete via Inagua Natural Park.

The mineral scenery and perfect asphalt make for a fantastic ride. The coastal corniche road through Tamadaba Natural Park is a highlight.

Ferry to Santa Cruz, Tenerife (approx. 1h30). We take the longer scenic route through Anaga Park for breathtaking views.

Arrival in San Cristobal de La Laguna, a UNESCO World Heritage colonial town. Overnight in La Laguna.

Anaga Natural Park hides some of the island’s most spectacular scenery. The narrow ridge road offers stunning views — almost like South America!

Visit La Orotava and Icod de los Vinos, home to the world’s oldest dragon tree.

Masca is Tenerife’s jewel, perched at 650m in the Teno mountains.

Ride to Puerto de los Gigantes beneath the monumental cliffs.

Return to Playa de las Américas and return the motorcycle. Overnight nearby.

Transfer to Tenerife South Airport (approx. 20 min).

Note: if departure is from Tenerife North, transfer would likely be organized the day before, with a final overnight stay in the north.
