Overview
After Oxford and the Cotswolds in England, and Snowdonia in Wales, head for Dublin, the Wicklow Mountains, Galway and Connemara. Then the southwest with Dingle, Killarney and the Ring of Kerry, Kenmare, Kinsale and Kilkenny. On the menu: rugged coasts, steep cliffs, remote lighthouses, turquoise coves, and live music in pubs! And dream roads: Sky Rd, Slea Head Drive, Healy Pass... Return to the continent with the overnight ferry to Cherbourg.
Itinerary
Day 1 (except package with flights) • Calais - Folkestone - Oxford - Cotswolds, UK (280 km)
Board the Shuttle and cross the Channel via the Eurotunnel to Folkestone, England.
After UK entry formalities (passport required!), head to Oxford, the famous university city. Its center, around the University founded in the 12th century, is well worth a visit. It’s hard to plan museum and college visits, but wandering the pedestrian streets and stopping by the old 'Covered Market' is a great idea.
Then on to the Cotswolds, a region of rolling green pastures dotted with charming stone villages (Bibury, Bourton-on-the-Water, Burford...). Many books, films and TV series have used it as a backdrop!
Arrival in Bourton-on-the-Water.
Overnight in Bourton-on-the-Water or nearby.
