The Fjords Road (29/5-10/6/2027)

Heading for the Morkholsfossen and Steindalsfossen falls, where you can walk behind the waterfall! Ferry crossing (approx. 20 min) and arrival at the foot of the impressive Låtefossen falls. Then two magnificent scenic roads: the hairpins of Røldalsfjellet, followed by the crossing of the 'Norwegian Connemara', a world of stony moorland and lakes. Arrival in Sauda at the end of the Saudafjord, which we follow before reaching today's stop on the other shore, in Sand. Dinner at the hotel and overnight in Sand.

Breakfast included. Briefing. We follow the Lovrafjorden, the Erfjorden and then the beautiful Jøsenfjorden, before reaching the Langvatnet massif. A fabulous descent through moorland and rocks leads us to Songesand, on the Lysefjord. One-hour ferry mini-cruise on the fjord, surrounded by impressive cliffs. Landing in Lysebotn.

Off we go up the 27 hairpin bends to the top of the Lysevegen. Back through a 'Scottish-style' landscape of lakes and moorland before arriving in Bykle. Dinner included. Overnight in Bykle or nearby.

Breakfast included. Briefing. Heading east to the Heddal stave church, one of the most beautiful and the largest in Norway. Only around thirty of these old wooden churches, jewels of Norway's medieval heritage, still survive today.

The route follows Lake Tinnsjå and its crystal-clear waters, before climbing to the Imingfjell pass, on a high plateau at 853 m, with a magnificent viewpoint. We descend into the Uvdal valley, popular with white-water enthusiasts, before reaching Geilo. Dinner included. Overnight in Geilo.

Breakfast included. Briefing. The first part of today's route reveals two beautiful wooden churches, the Tisleidalen Stavkirke and the Hore Stavkirke. We follow the peaceful, green Strondafjord.

Heading for the high plateaus of Jotunheimen National Park, home to the country's highest peaks, including Galdhøpiggen (2,469 m), the highest mountain in Scandinavia. It can be cold in the morning and evening, especially in spring... The park is a paradise for hikers and nature lovers. Dinner included. Overnight in the park (or nearby).

Breakfast included. Briefing. We leave Jotunheimen to follow the Sjoa and Gudbrandsdalslågen rivers. Stop at the beautiful Ringebu stave church. We skirt the peaks of Rondane National Park, the oldest in the country, before reaching Røros. This small mining town (copper was mined in the area) on the Trøndelag plateau has remained almost intact, especially the miners' quarter and its wooden houses, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Dinner at leisure. Overnight in Røros (or nearby).

Breakfast included. Briefing. We reach the coast at Trondheim, capital of Trøndelag and gateway to northern Norway. Nestled in its fjord at the mouth of the Nidelva, Trondheim has some real gems, such as the splendid Nidaros Cathedral and the historic Bakklandet district, with its row of wooden buildings on stilts painted red, yellow and brown.

Worth a visit: the Maritime Museum and the Museum of Musical Instruments on the Lade peninsula. Dinner at leisure. Overnight in Trondheim.

Breakfast included. Briefing. We follow Trondheim Bay, then the Snillfjord, before Kyrksæterøra and Lake Rovatnet. Heading for Torsetsundet on a wonderfully peaceful road. We reach the island of Ertvågsøya, then Stabblandet, linked by a series of bridges. Arrival on the island of Tustna, a mountainous island whose summit rises to 896 m above the Norwegian Sea.

We leave the island on the Tømmervåg ferry (approx. 25-minute crossing) to reach Kristiansund, which owes its wealth to cod fishing... And to the Atlantic Road, on tomorrow's menu! Dinner included. Overnight in Kristiansund.

Breakfast included. Briefing. Here is the famous 'Atlantic Road', whose finest section links Kårvåg to Vevang over 9 km. In all, 8 bridges connect a string of islands and cross arms of the sea. Sublime!

Break in Molde, then on to Åndalsnes and the legendary Trolls' Road, which climbs through a superb series of hairpin bends. After the trolls, it's time for the iconic Eagle Road (Ørnevegen), another gem from Norway's exceptional collection of roads. Arrival in Geiranger, on the Geirangerfjord. The stage includes 2 short ferry crossings. Dinner included. Overnight in Geiranger.

Breakfast included. Briefing. Heading for the Dalsnibba viewing platform at 1,476 m (toll road) for an exceptional panorama. After a few beautiful lakes, pretty waterfalls and a series of hairpins overlooking the Hjelle valley, arrival in Stryn, on the Nordfjord.

After Lake Dalavatnet, a short ferry crossing and a little detour to the beautiful Borgund stave church. Back on the Bjørgavegen scenic road, which crosses an area of high stony moorland. After Stegastein and its splendid viewpoint over the Aurlandsfjord, arrival in Aurland and then Flåm. Dinner at leisure. Overnight in Flåm (or nearby).

Breakfast included. Briefing. Heading for the small village of Undredal, on the Aurlandsfjord. With its little wooden church and almost emerald-green waters, it's a real postcard!

After the hairpins of Stalheimskleiva, we pass the Stalheimfossen and Tvindefossen falls. The route then winds along the Sørfjord and the beautiful Hardangerfjord, before taking us back to Bergen.

Dinner at leisure. Overnight in Bergen.

Breakfast included. Briefing and free day. Motorcycles are returned to the truck and cars to the hire company. Bergen has pretty houses clinging to the hillsides and little streets lined with restaurants, cafés and shops. The Hanseatic Bryggen district, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has some fifty old wooden houses. Besides the colourful fish market, Mount Fløyen and its funicular make a great outing, as does Mount Ulriken, reached by cable car.
