6,000. That's the number of islands in Greece, even though only 227 are inhabited... Of course, most of these islands are modest in size and are better suited to relaxing than to a long motorcycle stay, like Santorini, Mykonos or Folegandros in the Cyclades, or Corfu and Zakynthos in the Ionian Sea. But what a pleasure to extend a motorcycle trip there after parking the bikes. Crete, larger, offers magnificent getaways on two wheels!
The Peloponnese region is full of fabulous roads, taking riders from hidden coves to charming coastal towns and villages like Nafplio or Monemvasia. Along the way, you'll pass ancient sites, precious witnesses to the legacy of Greek, Byzantine and Roman civilizations: Epidaurus, Mycenae or Olympia, birthplace of the Games. The Peloponnese is also mountain country, with impressive monasteries, sublime routes and panoramas, and lovely stone-house villages such as Dimitsana.
Everywhere, hospitality is sacred. And what a joy to be able to grab a bite at any hour of the day or evening... Itinerary starting from Athens of course. The ideal opportunity to discover the ancient sites that dominate the Acropolis, like the Parthenon. North of the Corinth Canal, mainland Greece is not short on superb motorcycle routes. Starting with the famous Meteora, where 6 monasteries still stand, built atop vertiginous rock pillars. Greece is the land of the Gods. And riders have their place there!
