Like its American neighbor, Canada is divided between two major regions: in the west, the peaks of the coastal range and the Rockies dominate a wild landscape of rare beauty, made of mountains, lakes and rivers. Wildlife is abundant there, notably in the national parks of Banff, Jasper, Yoho and Waterton, starting from Calgary, or from neighboring Montana. On the Pacific side, Vancouver and Victoria, on the island of the same name, are ideal starting points to ride towards Whistler, Okanagan Lake, and the Rockies.
In the land of maples, the great Prairies in the center are a kind of 'no man's land'. To the east, hills replace the high peaks. There are the Great Lakes, Toronto and the famous Niagara Falls. Then Ottawa, the federal capital. Further along the St. Lawrence River, Montreal and Quebec lie at the heart of the "Belle Province", the land of outfitter lodges and of that French peppered with such delightful expressions! Far to the east, on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, the three "Maritime Provinces" also abound with lovely roads and small coastal villages.
In the north, starting from Whitehorse, the vast expanses of the Yukon, on the borders of Alaska, are the territory of grizzlies and the remnants of the gold rush. Nature is harsh there, but splendid! Crossing these lands feels like travelling into the unknown...
