Nearly 3,800 km long, from its source in northern Minnesota to where it reaches the Gulf of Mexico, this mythical river splits the United States into two parts: everything to the west, and everything to the east...
Aboard a paddlewheeler (sternwheel boat), the American Splendor or the American Heritage ; or on a more classic ship, the American Symphony, the American Serenade or the American Melody, the Mississippi River will be your companion for 8 days of cruising in the heart of this South with its so captivating atmosphere! For your comfort, all ships are human-sized, with a capacity of 150 to 180 passengers.
Most cruises operate between Memphis in the north and New Orleans in the south, i.e. on the Lower Mississippi. Departures are from Memphis or New Orleans. Below we describe a typical itinerary departing from New Orleans. There are a few loop departure dates from New Orleans as well.
We strongly recommend adding 1, or ideally 2 extra nights in New Orleans, either before embarkation or after disembarkation. New Orleans is one of our favorite cities in the USA and truly deserves a few days of your time. We’ll be delighted to arrange this for you!

- Travel insurance: please consult us, as medical costs in the USA and Canada are very high.
- Transfers between the airport and your hotel on arrival day.
- Transfers between the port and your hotel (or the airport) on the last day of your cruise.
- Possible stay extensions (please consult us).
- Anything not mentioned in “The price includes”.
TRAVEL FORMALITIES
- Valid passport.
- Electronic travel authorization (ESTA) required: indicative price 40 USD / person.
- Credit card required (deposits).

- Because the cruise company’s pricing policy is complex, the prices shown in the table are “from” prices. They may vary more or less strongly depending on the chosen dates and booking timing (please consult us).

The ships
Mississippi cruises are operated by 5 ships:
2 “paddlewheelers” (with a stern paddle wheel) and 3 “riverboats” (more classic).
Paddlewheelers: American Splendor & American Heritage.
These two ships, built in 2015 and 2016, are identical. Main features:

- Classic sternwheeler aesthetics.
- Panoramic restaurant.
- Main dining room.
- 3 distinct lounges.
- Comfortable lounge-bar.
- Fitness center.
- Passenger decks accessible by elevators.
Riverboats: American Serenade, American Symphony & American Melody.
These three ships, built between 2021 and 2023, are similar. Main features:
- Capacity: 180 passengers.
- Modern, more classic styling.
- Several restaurants.
- Outdoor walking track and fitness center.
- Multi-story glass atrium.
- Single access ramp for easier boarding.
- Passenger decks accessible by elevators.
